Betsy Price is the 44th mayor of Fort Worth, Texas. She was elected on June 18, 2011, in a nonpartisan race to replace mayor Mike Moncrief, and took office on July 12. She is a Republican who previously served 2½ terms as Tarrant County tax assessor-collector, from 2001 to 2011. Price graduated from Arlington Heights High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Since then, she has been an active mother and a leader in the Fort Worth community, serving on numerous boards, commissions and professional associations. After running her own successful business for 17 years, Price turned to public service, and was elected in 2000 to serve as Tarrant County’s Tax Assessor.
